Start and End of the School Day Arrangements

Morning: 8.45 am to 12.00 pm
Afternoon: 1.00 pm to 3.15 pm

A typical school week is 32.5 hours a week.

The school day starts at 8.45am and the school gates will be unlocked prior to this.

Parents can wait with their children outside the classroom and teachers will open the classroom doors at 8.45am when children can enter. Teachers and support staff will be available for quick messages on the door but if you need to speak to the class teacher about something that will take longer, please can you ring or pop into the school office to make an appointment for a more suitable time. The gate will be shut at 8.55am to ensure that all children are in school for a prompt start and to make sure our school site is secure. Any children arriving after this time should enter through the main office door.

During the mid-morning break the children are supervised by staff. Children in the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 receive a free piece of fruit daily and Key Stage 2 children are encouraged to bring in fruit or a healthy snack. Milk is provided to those who have booked it in advance.

Please ensure that children come to school suitably dressed for the weather and with waterproof coats when appropriate as we encourage children to be outside whenever they can at playtime. In the event of bad weather at playtime, the children remain in their classroom and are supervised. An assortment of activities including board games, jigsaws and toys is available at this time.

At the end of the school day, we ask that children are collected from their classroom door. Children will only be let out of the classroom when a parent or known adult is seen. Children in Year 5 and 6 will only be allowed to walk home by themselves if written permission has been given and it has been agreed by both home and school. If collection arrangements for your child are going to be different from usual, please speak to your child’s class teacher or telephone the school office on 01858 462319.

If children are absent from school for any reason, please do call the office and let us know as we need to know this information as part of our safeguarding duty.
